DENIM WASH DEVELOPMENT / IN-HOUSE WASH HOUSE

A wash has to work on your fabric.

Develop the colour, surface and worn-in character of your denim with the wash house behind PDS. Review the physical result before agreeing the direction for production.

A short brief is enough to start. No complete tech pack required.

01

From a visual reference to a physical wash sample

A photograph communicates a direction, but it does not specify a complete wash recipe. Send the effect you like and identify the parts that matter: overall shade, contrast, whisker placement, abrasion, distressing or hand feel. The team reviews that direction alongside the proposed fabric and garment.

02

The same reference can behave differently on different denim

The starting shade, yarn, fabric weight, construction and stretch influence the result. A strong fade on one fabric may not produce the same contrast on another. Discuss the actual fabric before judging whether a reference can be developed. A physical wash test helps make that decision concrete.

03

See the work on the wash-house floor

The short film below shows equipment, hand work and surface details in the factory wash operation. Use it alongside the photographed wash studies to explain which effects you want to explore. These are visual references; the final process and specification are agreed for your own project.

04

Review colour, placement and garment performance together

When reviewing a sample, consider the whole garment as well as close details. Check the overall tone, the relationship between light and dark areas, the location of wear effects and the fit after washing. Share your required measurements and testing criteria so they can be discussed before bulk approval.

05

Turn an approved reference into a production brief

The factory tests washes on its own machines and uses an approved reference to guide the production run. Keep the agreed physical sample and record requested changes clearly. Production quantity, lead time and cost depend on the fabric, garment construction and finish; the team confirms these after reviewing the brief.

Common questions

Can you match a wash exactly from a photograph?

A photograph is a starting reference. Lighting and the original fabric affect its appearance. The result needs to be developed and reviewed on a physical sample using the proposed fabric.

Can I send my own denim fabric?

Client-supplied fabric can be discussed. Share its composition, weight and available quantity so the team can review the testing and development requirements.

How long does wash development take?

Timing is confirmed after reviewing the fabric, effect and sample requirements. Include your target date rather than relying on a fixed turnaround for every wash.
